Intercollegiate Athletics Committee (IAC)

COMMITTEE CHARGE

(Repealed 10/28/2021, effective 8/31/2022)


The Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics (IAC) is responsible for the oversight of and development of policy recommendations on academic matters involving intercollegiate athletics including; the progress of athletes to degree, the special admission of athletes, and the review of practices of the UCLA Athletics Department as they affect the academic progress and performance of student-athletes. IAC also engages broader issues regarding the relation of the athletics program to the overall academic mission of the university. IAC advises the Administration and Athletics Department and maintains as the liaison with equivalent committees at other universities on matters of policy.

Following approval by the Legislative Assembly of the Proposal to Repeal Select Committees of the UCLA Academic Senate, IAC has been sunset effective Fall 2022. Oversight of academic performance and of student-athlete welfare has been transferred to the Undergraduate Council, while oversight of the admissions of student athletes has been transferred to the Committee on Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools.
