Committee on Emeriti Affairs (CEA)
The Committee on Emeriti Affairs is responsible for maintaining communication with emeriti on matters of concern to emeriti and with active faculty on retirement-related matters. Where appropriate, the Committee has the responsibility to inform and consult with the Office of the Chancellor and the Los Angeles Division of the Academic Senate regarding matters of concern to these groups. The Committee is also charged with maintaining liaison with the Emeriti/Retiree Relations Center, with recommending emeritus status for non-Senate academic retirees, and with editing and circulating commemorative statements for deceased members of the Los Angeles Division of the Academic Senate and for such non-Senate members as the Chancellor or President may request.
- Five voting active faculty and emeriti, at least two of whom are emeriti. Members are appointed by the Committee on Committees and confirmed by the Legislative Assembly for terms of up to 3 years.
- Five non-voting ex-officio members--appointed for one year terms of President of the Emeriti Association, President-Elect of the Emeriti Association, Past President of the Emeriti Association, the Chair of the Emeriti Welfare Committee, and the Chair of the Senate Faculty Welfare Committee. The Chair is appointed by the Committee on Committees and confirmed by the Legislative Assembly.
- The Director of the Emeriti/Retiree Relations Center serves as a standing guest.
Interactions with Administration: The Committee on Emeriti Affairs interacts with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Personnel and the Director of the Emeriti/Retiree Relations Center.
The Committee on Emeriti Affairs meets 5 times per year during the academic year.
