Committee Charge

The Committee on University Emeriti and Pre-Retirement Relations is responsible for maintaining communication with emeriti on matters of concern to them and with active faculty on retirement-related matters. Where appropriate, the Committee has the responsibility to inform and consult with the Office of the Chancellor and the Los Angeles Division of the Academic Senate regarding matters of concern to these groups. The Committee is also charged with maintaining liaison with the Emeriti/Retiree Relations Center, with recommending emeritus status for non-Senate academic retirees, and with editing and circulating commemorative statements for deceased members of the Los Angeles Division of the Academic Senate and for such non-Senate members as the Chancellor or President may request.

Membership

Ten active faculty and emeriti. The President, President-Elect, and Past President of the Emeriti Association, the Chair of the General Economic Welfare Committee of the Emeriti Association, and the Chair of the Senate Faculty Welfare Committee are ex officio members. Five faculty, at least two emeriti, are appointed by the Committee on Committees and confirmed by the Legislative Assembly for up to 3 years. The Director of the Emeriti Center also participates. Committee on Committees appoints and Legislative Assembly confirms the Chair.

Interactions with Administration

Primary interactions are with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Personnel and the Emeriti/Retiree Relations Center.

The Committee on University Emeriti & Pre-Retirement Relations (UEPRR) meets 5 times per year.
