Committee Charge

The Committee on Library and Scholarly Communication (COLASC) takes, as its principal obligation, to reflect and articulate the views of UCLA faculty members concerning the role of the University Library in the acquisition, storage, and provision of scholarly materials.

COLASC advises the Chancellor concerning the administration of the Library and scholarly communications. The Committee represents the Division and the faculty in all matters of library policy and advises the Library administration accordingly.

Membership

  • Nine voting faculty appointed by the Committee on Committees and confirmed by the Legislative Assembly for up to 3 years,
  • The UCLA University Librarian, ex-officio,
  • Two student representatives, 1 undergraduate and 1 graduate appointed by their respective student government.

Interactions with Administration

Primary interactions are with the University Librarian.

The Committee on Library and Scholarly Communication meets twice per quarter.
